The Power of Gratitude

Gratitude is one of life’s best medicines. We all feel a little better when we can find appreciation in something or for someone; we also feel good when someone shows us appreciation. Even the simplest “thank you” accompanied by a smile to the stranger who holds your door can go farther than you think, for yourself and for the other person.

CHALLENGE YOURSELF!

1. Show gratitude towards not only what you’re given, but also for what you give to others. Like give thanks to the fast food clerk who takes your order or be thankful that you can provide support to a friend who is going through a rough time.

2. For every negative thought, saying, or action, challenge them with two positives. For example, you think it’s unfair that you don’t make as much money as your friends do because your job doesn’t pay you enough (trust me, I used to and still struggle with this one…). Maybe challenge this by giving thanks that you even have a job to begin with and that because of this job you have the independent ability to pay for things like a place to live, food to eat, a car to drive, a cell phone to stay in touch with friends and family (and even get a new job if you want :-)), clothing to keep you warm, or whatever else you put your money towards.

Feel and observe the positive energy, it will only blossom from here!
