Welcome! My name is Rachel, and I am 28 years old, currently living in beautiful, sunny San Diego, California! I first created this blog site to share my experiences, challenges, lessons, and overall story about my life with a mental illness. Throughout the years, I have felt so hopelessly alone that I yearned to escape, start over, and majority of the time just give up.

These feelings of hopelessness, fears, doubts, anxieties, anger and all of those other crazy emotions carried over into almost all areas of my life. I was not only hurting others by lashing out, shutting down, and blatantly reacting, but I was destroying myself, physically, mentally, emotionally, and spiritually. As much as I didn’t want to admit it, I knew in the back of my mind that this path couldn’t and wouldn’t last much longer. I needed to make a change or the likelihood of me not living to 30 years old was becoming more and more of a reality.

Along this new, transformative journey towards a healthier, happier lifestyle, I’ve not only stuck with traditional methods of care, such as therapy, psychiatry, medication, and even hospitalization, but with the help of family and friends I’ve

incorporated alternatives like yoga, meditation, healthier lifestyle habits/behaviors, and much more. Although these alternatives seem like no-brainers to a lot of us, I know sticking with it among all the other external forces in life can be extremely difficult. (Like we all know that 30-minutes a day of light exercise can do our body good, but how many of us really do it?)

As my journey continued, I then realized that those of us who have a mental illness are not alone in this search for ways to live a happier, healthier life, but a majority of people are looking for that same exact thing. So I decided that I really wanted to share this journey with everyone in this world to serve as a reminder that once you reach the moment that you realize that this is YOUR LIFE (your body, your mind, your health, your career, your choice, your beliefs, etc.) that you can really start living to your fullest potential. Remember, at the end of the day, you are the only one looking out for you, so love who you are, embrace who you are, and don’t ever forget that you are not alone!
